Sulphur Analysis BY GC-SCD
Many sources of natural gas and petroleum gases contain varying amounts and types of sulphur compounds. The analysis of gaseous sulphur compounds is difficult because they are polar, reactive, and pre-sent at trace levels. Sulphur compounds pose problems both in sampling and analysis. Analysis of sulphur compounds many times requires special treatment to sample pathways to ensure inertness to the reactive sulphur species. Sampling must be done using containers proven to be non-reactive. Laboratory equipment must also be inert and well-conditioned to ensure a reliable results.
3Phase Reservoir Technology Sdn Bhd uses Agilent 7890 Gas Chromatography with sulfur chemiluminescence detection (SCD) configuration to analyze Sulphur compounds in gas & liquid form and sulphur speciation. With recent method approvals by the ASTM and UOP, the 7890 GC-SCD provides a relatively quick means to identify and quantify sulphur compounds that are present in petroleum and petrochemical feeds and products, such as natural gas, ethylene, propylene, liquefied petroleum gases, solvents, gasoline and diesel fuels.
