Surface Sampling

Representative analysis of properties of hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon fluids in the petroleum industry strictly depends on the quality of the sub- or surface sampling. With increasing challenges of high pressure and temperature samples with the addition of difficult fluids to handle i.e heavy oils, very high levels of H2S or CO2, reliable sampling equipment and excellent knowledge of a sampler is a must. Experience shows that the majority of non-representative data coming from laboratories are directly due to poor sampling practices and unsuitable sampling tools or equipments.
